How to Enjoy Makhana
From the classic 3-minute kheer to creative snack bowls — explore our favourite ways to use PokharBowl products.

3-Minute Mithila Kheer
The classic way to enjoy our Sweet Mithila Kheer. Rich, warm, and ready in under 3 minutes — exactly as our grandmothers intended.
Steps
- 1Empty one sachet of Sweet Mithila Kheer into a deep bowl.
- 2Heat 150ml of whole milk until steaming (70-80°C). Do not boil.
- 3Pour the hot milk over the mix and stir continuously for 2-3 minutes.
- 4The makhana will soften and the kheer will thicken naturally.
- 5Garnish with saffron strands and serve warm.
Pro Tip
For a richer kheer, use full-fat milk. For a chilled version, let it cool and refrigerate for 2 hours.

Makhana Trail Mix Bowl
A high-protein trail mix bowl that works equally well as a desk snack, a pre-workout bite, or a light evening munch.
Steps
- 1Measure out one serving of Savory Mac & Cheese Makhana into a bowl.
- 2Add a small handful of roasted almonds and cashews.
- 3Toss in a few dried cranberries or raisins for a sweet-savory contrast.
- 4Add two tablespoons of pumpkin seeds.
- 5Mix well and serve immediately at room temperature.
Pro Tip
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Do not refrigerate — it softens the makhana.

Savory Makhana Chaat
A street-food inspired chaat using our Savory makhana as the crispy base. Loaded with fresh vegetables and tangy dressings.
Steps
- 1Warm one pack of Savory Mac & Cheese Makhana in a pan on low heat for 1 minute.
- 2Transfer to a wide plate or bowl.
- 3Add finely chopped tomato, onion, green chilli, and fresh coriander.
- 4Drizzle with tamarind chutney and mint chutney.
- 5Top with a small dollop of chilled hung curd and serve immediately.
Pro Tip
Assemble and serve within 5 minutes of adding the toppings — the makhana loses its crunch if left to sit.

Overnight Cold Kheer
A summer-ready chilled kheer that takes practically zero effort. Prep it the night before and wake up to a ready-made breakfast dessert.
Steps
- 1Empty one sachet of Sweet Mithila Kheer into a jar with a lid.
- 2Pour 180ml of cold full-fat milk over the mix.
- 3Stir well, seal the jar, and refrigerate overnight (minimum 6 hours).
- 4In the morning, give it a stir and add a teaspoon of honey if desired.
- 5Top with chopped pistachios and serve chilled directly from the jar.
Pro Tip
Use a glass mason jar for easy portability. This works beautifully as a meal-prep breakfast for the week.
